Crazy Weather

Yesterday, it was gorgeous outside. Today, we spent a lot of time at school in "duck and cover" mode because of the tornadoes. Tomorrow, the high is in the 40s. I already miss yesterday's 70 degree weather!

Low Key

So we had a low key weekend which was much appreciated around here. Sunday night we had "movie night" before the girls went to bed.

Caroline is obsessed with turning the lights off and on these days. Elizabeth does her best to block out the distraction. When she watches her movies, she is in the zone! And yes, she is wearing her daddy's t-shirt which she said was "so cozy." Goofy girl!

Winter Homecoming

Tonight was our winter homecoming game at school. I am so thankful to work at a school with such awesome students. They took care of my girls all night, especially Candace, who is an emcee (spirit leader). She let Elizabeth wear her her emcee cape and Maddie let her use her poms to cheer. I can't wait to show Elizabeth in ten or so years (when she is hopefully at Pope) how she's been a Greyhound her whole life.

21 months old

My sweet Caroline, you are 21 months old today.  I can't believe you will be two in a few months.
Thankfully, we haven't had to go to the doctor for any sick visits lately so I'm not sure how much you weigh or how tall you are.  But I know for a fact that you are getting big.  You eat more than any of us each night.  I haven't really found anything that you won't eat.

I do know that you are full of life and personality.  Your favorite word these days is "no".  You are sure about what you want and what you do not want.

Your favorite requests are "a show", "eat", and "juice".

You have all of us wrapped around your finger, including your sister.  You call her "sisser" and she calls you "Caroliny."

You are becoming quite independent.  You like to get in and out of the car by yourself.  Walk up the stairs by yourself.  It seems like you always want to walk by yourself when I want (or need) to hold you, and you want me to hold you whenever it's really not that convenient.  I have to say, it doesn't really bother me though.  I will sometimes cook dinner, unload and load the dishwasher, and even vaccuum while holding you.  I guess I learned from your sister that this time is short lived so I'm soaking you up.

You love to "read" your books, espcially when Elizabeth reads them to you.  Sometimes you get too tired and point to your crib.  Sometimes you won't let go of your book and choose to cuddle with it.  You always go to sleep on your stomach, but end up flat on your back with your legs bent over your bumper.  You look like an astronaut ready for take-off.  It makes us laugh every night watching you on the monitor.
Your sister talks about turning 4 so much, that when we ask you how old you are, you hold up four fingers.

You have started playing really well with Elizabeth.  You can really hold your own now.  You two race around the kitchen island and dance like crazy in the living room.

You love to play dress up with your sister, and sometimes put your tutu on over your pajamas refusing to take it off even to go to bed.

When your sister insists that you play pretend with her, you play whatever role she asks of you.  At least until you're over it, then you just ignore her and do your own thing.  It's so adorable to watch.

You do get quite upset when you don't get your way.  That's probably our fault since we spoil you like crazy.  It's so hard not to since your our precious baby!

I don't love seeing your sweet face so sad, but I love that you always reach your arms out for me and squeeze your fists together as if asking me to "come here."  I love it!  And I love you sweet angel!!

Girls Weekend 2013

Every year in January I get together with my girlfriends from college. I love that our pledge class (at least some of us) have made such an effort to stay in touch.  This year we stayed in a cabin in east Tennessee between Townsend and Pigeon Forge.

Liz had shirts made for each of us.  What a special touch!

We played a lot games, including Bunco.

We had a pinterest party and made ADPi ornaments with our Bid Day picture on it.

We celebrated Meghan's engagement.

We spent some time in the hot tub.

We played games and cards followed by dance parties!

Basically, we relaxed and talked until very, very late.  Then we slept in... it was heaven!

It wouldn't be girls weekend without LeAnn (in France) and Mackenzie (in Brazil).  Since they couldn't physically be there, we skyped them.

We watched a movie in the media room.

The view was gorgeous.
On Monday, we went to Knoxville to visit our new sorority house.  We were given a tour, then ate lunch there.  I so wish we couldn've had that experience in college.  The house was amazing.  It made me so proud to be an ADPi.  I can honestly say, we have the best house in Sorority Village.  The main street is even named after an ADPi.
We took our picutre by the composites from our years.

Of course we had to complete the diamond!

Looking at our old composites was so much fun.

I took this picture to show Bert that our donations were appreciated!

Before we left, we started making plans for next year's girls weekend.  I'm already looking forward to it!

The Dentist

The girls had their 6 month check ups this week. Elizabeth gets giddy over the dentist. She loves it! This was Caroline's first time. She was very excited to be there. She eagerly sat in the chair, but when he started examining her teeth she got the saddest, pouty look on her face. She didn't cry or resist but her sweet face looked so pathetic.

Friends and Family Night

Tonight Bert had class and the girls and I ran errands. We stopped at "chick-a-play" for dinner. It happened to be Friends and Family Pajama night. Elizabeth was upset that she wasn't wearing her pajamas, but she said she would pretend since she was wearing her "house" clothes. I guess she meant her "bumming around clothes."

The girls participated in the craft which was coloring a pillow case.

Caroline refused to let me take off her jacket the entire time. It worked out well when she was eating her ice cream.

Where did the weekend go?

Time flies when you're having fun, and we sure did have fun this weekend!  We took Bert out as a family on Friday night.  On Saturday, we got a babysitter so Bert and I could celebrate his birthday without the kiddos.  We went to see Lincoln, then went to a really fun restaurant in Buckhead called Twist. They are known for their tapas and sushi.  We loved it all... the atmosphere, the wine, and even the sushi!

The weather was crazy warm this weekend, so we spent a lot of time playing outside.

I know it's mean that I took this picture of Caroline crying, chasing the big girls behind the jeep.  But she had just spent 15 minutes riding in it.  Sharing is a tough lesson to learn:)

On speghetti night, this is how the girls eat... no clothes.  In fact, when I say, "speghetti's ready" they instantly start stripping down before getting in their seats.
After I put Caroline to bed tonight, Elizabeth asked if she could watch a show.  I let her so I could go take a shower.  When I got out, I found her fast asleep on the chair.  It was only 7:30.  Poor girl had quite a busy, fun day!

It's the Little Things...

At Target tonight, Elizabeth saw a rain jacket that she instantly loved.  It really is cute.  The one she has is adorable (Meyers gave it to her for her 2nd birthday).  But Caroline doesn't have one and E is growing out of it.  So I decided to get E a new one and pass the other one down.  It was a win-win!

And I got my rental car last night.  I never thought I'd be so excited about a van!  I thought I'd take advantage of this time in a rental to test drive the car I've been trying to talk Bert into.  It's a Chrysler Town and Country instead of the Honda that I have had my eye on.  So far, I'm in love!  Everything opens with a push of a button.  And this one has all the bells and whistles.  It even has two movie players which make the girls super excited.

Portable North Pole

This video was taken in mid-December.  Santa Claus sent a message to Elizabeth.  She watched it over and over!

Back to the Grind

I went back to work today, and left my two sweeties at home with their daddy.  Yesterday, I felt like I needed a little "pick-me-up" so I took Elizabeth to get mani/pedis.  It was her first time.  She loved every second of it.  She kept giving me this grin like it was the best kept secret she'd ever experienced.  She acted like such a big girl the entire time.  I even let her pick out our toe polish.  Girls are so much fun!
This was Caroline all ready for church.  She is getting quite sassy, but still so sweet!

Winter Break Wrap Up

It was fun going back through my phone looking at pictures of some of the things we did over break!  As always, it went too quickly.

We made reindeer sandwiches and ate them in our "fancy" clothes.  BTW, Elizabeth is really getting into Fancy Nancy lately.

We had a LOT of treats.

Which means we did some baking.

We went to a wild and fun birthday party.

We played outside, watched movies, and spent a lot of time in dress-up clothes.

We learned a new way to get rid of hiccups, ran errands, and made a trip to the salon.

We did a whole bunch of crafts to get ready for Elizabeth's birthday party.  I had awesome helpers!

They were very willing to try out what we made.

We organized the playroom closet and the upstairs linen closet.

We went to a movie with our friends.

We completed some more projects for Elizabeth's party.

We visited the library with our friends.

We let daddy fix our hair and learned that there are some things that mommies are definitely  better at!

I'm sad for our break to be over, but I'm ready to be back in a regular routine.  Bring on 2013!
