Thanksgiving Break

Our week off has been the perfect mix of activities and rest.  We had play dates, went to the movies, and spent one day at Catch Air playing so hard that both girls took a 3-hour nap.  It was fantastic!

Since we were hosting Thanksgiving this year, the girls helped me clean and prep all week.  By "help" I mean they played in the playroom and watched cartoons so I could get stuff done.  It is so nice that they can play on their own for little bits of time now which is really the most help I could ever ask for!

On Thanksgiving morning, the girls were in and out of the living room watching the parade.  They either sat in these chairs or stood right up next to the TV.

We had a full house for Thanksgiving.  I forgot to take a whole family picture, but our guests included Nana, Papa, Nannie, Papa Ray, Uncle Scott, Aunt Brandi, Ginger and Roger (Brandi's parents), cousins Alex, Kenzie, and Madison.

Kenzie and Madison decided to sleep over with Elizabeth.  They watched movies and ate popcorn.  E was in heaven!

On Friday we bummed around and started decorating for Christmas.  My dad helped me put up our new 12' Christmas tree and Dianna helped me make a new wreath and tree skirt.  Let the Christmas festivities begin!

Our Weekend

I'm so excited to spend this week at home with my two favorite pumpkins!

Bert and his brother, Scott, went to Franklin to watch their high school  football team compete in the playoffs.  Me and the girls had movie night and ate pizza picnic style in the living room.  Great way to kick off our week at home!
On Saturday night, Bert and I went to the March of Dimes Nurses of the Year ceremony that his company sponsored.  It was a fun night out in Buckhead and I got to meet some of the people Bert works with.

Elizabeth said she was ready to go too.  Ha!
This morning both of the girls wanted to sit on my lap while I got ready for church. Makes it a little difficult, but never a dull moment around here.
Making goofy faces

Elizabeth and Gabriella asked to eat at Firehouse Subs after church... so we did!

Thanksgiving Feast at School

Elizabeth's been talking about her thanksgiving feast at school for over a week. Since Caroline's wasn't on the same day, Bert and I decided to divide and conquer. He went to C's on Tuesday.

She fell outside and scratched up her forehead before he got there and was wearing a sweater I've never seen before. So when he sent me these pictures I didn't know what to think!
Today I went for Elizabeth's. It was fun watching their little program, eating lunch and playing outside. I especially loved watching her in her element and her excitement for her mama being there!

Disclaimer: it was college day at my school. I don't usually wear jerseys😉

A Rainy Weekend

It's been a rainy weekend around here, but I welcomed the excuse to stay home and cuddle by the fire!  We did get out for church today and Elizabeth sang with the Joy Choir during worship again.

During Caroline's nap, Reese came over and we baked brownies.  Then I did some sewing while the girls watched a movie in the basement.  Not too much productivity though.  I didn't want to ruin my lazy weekend at home!

UT Homecoming

Our annual ADPi tailgate this year was our Homecoming game against Auburn.  I love that we still make it a priority to get together with our husbands/families for at least one football game a year.

We ate at Ye Olde Steakhouse.  I haven't been there since college.  It was good, but it's funny how your standards rise as you get older:)  Any dinner with these friends is great!
The game was at noon so we started tailgating at 9:00 AM!  Thankfully Meghan hooked us up with an amazing tailgate this year.  It was at circle park, and it's something new that UT is doing.  The set up these really nice tents with TVs, drinks, food, chairs, etc.  It was incredible!  We just showed up and enjoyed the festivities.

On the way to the stadium, we ran into Pat Head Summitt... whata a highlight!

We didn't win, but we had a blast!  I love these girls so much!!

While we were in Knoxville, our babies had fun in Nashville with Nana and Pappa.  We took them to Nashville on Friday and then they met us in Chattanooga on Sunday.  My cousins, Shawn and Stefanie, live in Chattanooga.  So we met them and Shawn's family for lunch at Cracker Barrel.  The perfect way to wrap up our weekend.

Quick Visit to Nashville

On Saturday morning, the girls and I headed out for a quick trip to Nashville.  We were there for exactly 24 hours, but they were 24 fantastic hours!  We got there in time to stop at my parents house in Nashville to drop off all of our stuff before heading to Mt. Juliet to celebrate Gaines's 5th birthday.  How in the world are our babies turning 5-years-old?!
The first thing the girls always want to do when we get to Nana and Pappa's is swing

Elizabeth really was excited to be there.  But she was worn out!  She even admitted to being tired which she NEVER admits!
Elizabeth woke up at her normal 7:30 time this morning, but because of the time change and the fact that we were now in central time, it was actually 5:30!  Thankfully my dad got up with her and made french toast.  After breakfast I caught a little dance party action in their living room.

My girls absolutely love their Pappa and it makes me so happy!

Elizabeth has been "posing" for pictures for a while.  But this was a first for Caroline.  They make me laugh!

I was taking a picture of Elizabeth and Caroline was still posing in the background.  Silly girls.
This is a side-by-side picture comparison of Elizabeth 3 years ago standing on my parents' back deck in the exact same dress/top she was wearing today.  Wow!  Time flies!!
While the girls were swinging, my dad started blowing the leaves around.  They loved it.  I love how Elizabeth is trying to protect Caroline.  She's such a nurturer.
