Party in the Park

Today we celebrated Ian's 2nd birthday at the park around the corner from our house.  It was so relaxed and fun.  I'm totally stealing the idea for Caroline's 2nd birthday in April.

Caroline loves the slides.

Elizabeth prefers the swings.  She's getting pretty good at pumping her legs to make herself go.

Flashback Friday

For our one year anniversary, we gave each other the traditional gift of "paper" in the form of UT/GA tickets.  Doesn't sound very romantic to most.  But we love spending our Saturdays together at football games so it was the perfect gift.  I guess you could say that was Elizabeth's first UT/GA game too:)  This weekend the Vols are heading to Athens again to take on the Bulldogs.  GBO!

Outside

We have been playing outside A LOT lately because the weather has been so perfect. Elizabeth loves riding her bike and drawing with chalk. Caroline prefers pushing instead of riding.

They both love to eat outside. Who doesn't when it's the perfect temperature and no bugs!

Speaking of eating, Caroline is getting pretty good at using a spoon by herself. Why are my babies growing up so fast?!

Baby Ballerina

On Wednesday nights, while I'm in my bible study at church, Elizabeth gets to go to Baby Ballerina.  Mrs. Laura is her teacher and does this out of the goodness of her heart free of charge!  I was so impressed with what these girls learned in 6 short weeks, and I loved every second of their showcase tonight.

North Georgia Fair

This weekend we took the girls to the North Georgia Fair.  I wasn't sure if it would be a hit or a disaster.  It was definitely a hit, and we stayed from 10:00 to 2:30.  Caroline really couldn't do anything other than the merry-go-round, but she was content just to watch and wave to her sister.  She even took an hour nap in her stroller.  Elizabeth's friend, Camille, and her parents joined us.  Camille and Elizabeth had a blast riding all of the rides together.  They seemed so big riding everything all by themselves.

Elizabeth especially loved riding the real pony.

Even though they really gross me out, Elizabeth loves petting farms.  We spent a very long time in there!

Elizabeth really wanted to jump on the trampoline.  I thought it would scare her, but it didn't at all.  This video doesn't show how high she actually went (it scared me so I had to stop recording).  She was so proud of herself, and even started doing tricks (kicking her legs around) when she got comfortable.

17 Months Old

Caroline, you are 17 months old today.  Here's what you're up to these days:

You weigh 24 pounds and wear size 6 shoe.
You wear 24 month clothes and size 4 diaper still.

You are the most welcoming neighbor on the block.  Whenever we are outside playing, you stop whatever you're doing to wave at cars or people going bye.  You make everybody smile.

You love to kiss your hand and blow us kisses.
You love to clap for yourself whenever you do anything you deem worthy of applause which is mostly everything.

Your vocabulary is really starting to pick up.  It's hard to understand your words, but when you repeat it enough times we finally understand you.  The sweetest words we heard you say this past week were, "tank-oo" for thank you.

You love to climb on anything and everything.  Your favorite thing to do is stand on the fire place and climb over the arm of the chair.  No matter how many times you get in trouble for it, you always go back for more.

You have so much fun at bath time.  You and your sister just play and play.  She loves to blow the bubbles in your face and listen to you giggle.  She tries to teach you how to swim, but you just laugh at her while she's doing it.  When it's time to get out, you turn away from me as if to make it clear that you are not ready to get out.

Your hair is growing like crazy, and I just adore your curls.  But I think I will finally break down and get your hair cut this month.  Not too much.  Just enough to even it out.

You're still a heavy drooler.  You almost have all of your teeth, so hopefully you can stop drooling soon.

You still eat so much all of the time.  You have a preference for meat.  Even your Nanny noticed when she was here that you are our meat eater, and your sister is our vegetable eater.

Before bedtime, I sit in your chair while you and your sister climb in my lap to read a book.  You don't like me to read your book.  You only want Elizabeth to read it.  She picks out one of the many books she has memorized and "reads" it to you.

When we play in the playroom, you will pretend to read a book like your sister.  After a few minutes, you always take the book and hand it to Elizabeth, then plop down next to her.  She knows exactly what your want, and starts reading it to you immediately.  Y'all do this almost every time and I love watching it.

I realized today, that the last time Caroline wore this dress was at her first birthday.  The only picture I have of her in it, is after the cake smashing and rinse off.  She has grown so much in the last 5 months!

Both of my babies at 17 months.

Phone Dump

Here are a few random pictures from my phone this week. The first two are actually ones that Bert sent me.  I love it when he sends me pictures of what him and the girls are doing when I'm not there.

That's Elizabeth sittingin the baby bouncer, watching a movie, and drawing on the white board with a permanent marker!
Bert took the girls to CFA for lunch one day.  When he sent me this picture, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the sight of my sweet girl.  He tries so hard to fix their hair.  Her expression says it all!

Vols in training

We basically wear orange every Saturday in the fall which makes us stick out like sore thumbs around here.

We are studying brain structure and function in AP Psych.  My students made brains out of oranges and candy.  Each piece actually represents a part of the brain.  And yes, some of them ate their brains when they were done!

Smiles and Tears

Elizabeth loves smiling for the camera.

Most of the time her next move is to grab her sister (even if against Caroline's will) and ask for another picture.

But these days, there's always a fine line between smiles and tears.  I have no idea why she suddenly burst into tears here, but it makes me terrified for the mood swings of her teenage years!

She was 7 months old then, but still loves wearing robes after bath time to this day.

Multiplicity Day

I know it's early, but this week is our Homecoming.  Since I'm the SGA sponsor, I like to get into the dress-up days.  Our students decided to amp up the traditional Twin Day and make it Multiplicity Day.  I like it because it's more inclusive and you don't just have to pick just one person to dress like. There are three of us on my hall who the kids seem to mix up a lot because we all have blond hair and teach right next to each other.  So we decided to be triplets today.

A First Time for Everything

Elizabeth loves her bed time routine.  She's quite demanding about every single detail. I help her brush her teeth, put her jammies on, prayers and kisses.  But she insists that her daddy rock her, and always excuses me to "go clean the kitchen."  Once Bert takes over, she negotiates with him the number of books he will read to her.  Then she climbs in her bed, and makes sure that her daddy takes his place in her chair.  She likes for him to sit in her chair for a few minutes before leaving.  The only time she allows me to do the last part is when Bert is teaching late on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  So I've come to look forward to and cherish those two nights when my baby still lets me rock her and put her to bed.  Anyways, the one thing she NEVER does is fall asleep on her own.  She dreads the moment when we say bed time.  So I was shocked tonight when I went to the bathroom and came out to this...
The poor girl was worn out!  It was only 7:15, and she had fallen asleep on the couch.  I never thought this would happen.  But she was super sick with a fever and tummy bug on Sunday and Monday.  So today was the first day that she was back in full force.  I guess I'll just look forward to Thursday!

I like to move it!

Elizabeth likes to sing to herself in bed instead of taking a nap.  Bert caught some of it on video last week.  The first one she's singing is "Wheels on the Bus" which was not surprising because it's been her favorite one to sing since she was 1 1/2.  But then she started singing, "I like to move it, move it"!  Bert couldn't figure out at first where she had heard that song.  Then we realized that it plays in the previews of Tangled (her favorite) for Madagascar (which she's never seen).  Just another reminder that our babies are soaking up absolutely everything around them.  They don't miss a thing!

Flashback Friday

September 2009.  It's started raining at the Troy game so we covered Elizabeth up!
