Elizabeth loves to put her hand on her hip and prop that leg when we take pictures. I did NOT teach her that!
My girls LOVE the dentist. The especially love watching the TVs on the ceiling. Caroline had her first set of Xrays and did so well:)
Elizabeth started soccer this week. It's the first year that they have a separate practice day. She is so excited to be on the same team as our sweet neighbor, Riley.
I had lunch with E on Friday for the first time. It was so fun to see her at school and it's so sweet how excited ALL the kids get to see their friend's mommy.
This weekend was ridiculously hot. After letting the girls play at the pool Friday night for way too late, we decided to have a lazy Saturday INSIDE! We didn't go outside at all until after dinner. There was finally a breeze and all the neighbors were out. We let them stay up way too late again catching lightning bugs. I loved watching them all run around together have "old-fashion" fun!
Caroline kept telling me she wasn't sleepy and didn't need a nap. Shortly after that, I found her like this.
We eat at Laredo's on a weekly bases. We have cut way back on eating out, but we just couldn't resist any longer! After church on Sunday, we got our Mexican fix!
Elizabeth and I spent Sunday afternoon at the pool for Gabriella's birthday. Caroline took a late nap and missed the whole thing. She was so sad. So while Bert grilled our dinner and Elizabeth rode her bike, I let Caroline play in her baby pool. It did the trick! She was one happy little girl:)
Bert grilled some yummy tilapia filets with a bruschetta topping. I'm sure going to miss grilling season when it gets cold.
Earlier this week the girls came to work in my classroom with me after school. Caroline helped me prepare an introduction to the 6 basic/universal emotions. I think my students will enjoy her showing them much more than if I did:)
My sweet little kindergartner before school each day. She is maturing so much already. I love and hate it all at the same time!
EJ and I leave before C gets up so Bert sends me pictures of her in the morning. I'm so proud that he will finally pick out her clothes and fix her hair.
I've had to learn to let go of my control and to let some things slide. Like the fact that she was wearing pajama shorts to school this day. In his defense, they are really cute pj bottoms:)
The girls started dance this week at a new place. So far, I love it! It's a great facility and they focus more on having fun and enjoying dancing rather than strict rules of hair and costume. And the best part is that they get to be in the same ballet class! They love that and so do I!!
We were suppose to go to the concert on the square Friday night, but it was ridiculously hot so we decided to hit up the pool instead. I'm really not sure who has more fun on our pool nights, the kids or the grown-ups!!!
Last weekend Reese's parents went out of town so the girls had a slumber party at our house. They had a blast!
matching nightgowns- E is really into nightgowns all of a sudden and I think they're so sweet
At church before Sunday school.
Caroline is always putting on a show. Life is her stage...
No luck on a group shot:(
Tuesday was Luke's 6th birthday so after dinner and baths, we walked down in the rain (barely sprinkling but E insisted we take her special umbrella) to celebrate with ice cream. Yum!
Our magic bands arrived this week! The countdown to Disney is on!!!
Lunch after church. One of the many things I do that I swore I never would... allow my kids to watch videos while out to eat so I can enjoy adult conversation with my hubby:)
School wears this munchkin out!
It's week 2 of school and I couldn't resist snapping a picture of my kindergartner each morning. Bert asked me how long I was going to keep it up, and I said as long we are ready on time I just might do it every day for the next 13 years!!
Monday- she picked her outfit out based on the shoes she wanted to wear. She really is my girl! Ha!
Tuesday. Apparently Ms. Arasi (her teacher) wears braids in her hair a lot and Elizabeth says she is soooo pretty. So almost every morning Elizabeth asks me to braid her hair.
Wednesday. Double braids:)
Thursday. Today was the day that Elizabeth got on yellow for the very first time:( She was talking in the hall when she wasn't suppose to. I was disappointed but the poor girl gets it honestly!
Friday. She wanted to wear her crayon shirt today because she was going to Art for specials. I think Art is her favorite so far!
A couple other things I want to remember from Elizabeth's second week of school (besides her first yellow report).
1. We received the list of sight words that Elizabeth would need to know before she finished kindergarten. It was broken down by 9 weeks. We were asked to make flashcards for each word. I gave the paper to Elizabeth and she proceeded to read every single word off of it. There were only 2 words in the whole list that she needed to sound out. The rest she just read easily (thank you pre-K). I was telling her how proud I was of her and she said, "I didn't actually know them, but my brain did." Ha! She says the funniest things.
2. When she got out of my car Wednesday morning to go into school, a new little friend of hers saw her and called her name. Elizabeth turned around with a big smile, ran over to her, they grabbed hands and basically skipped into school together. It was truly like a scene from a movie. My heart was so full right then because I know she's making sweet friends that will grow up with her and be a major part of her life. And to see her so happy made this mama so happy too!
Because Caroline is still sleeping when Elizabeth and I leave, I don't get to take her picture each morning. I was excited this morning when Bert texted me this picture of Caroline that he took. All ready for the Splash Park Day at school!
We made it successfully through the first week of school! Starting on a Monday made for a very long first week, but my little kindergartner loved (almost) every minute of it!
Day 1
She has to have a lunch box and snack bag... lots of eating in kindergarten:)
Her backpack and lunchbox are bigger than her!
Day 2
Day 3
The exhaustion set in on Wednesday morning. Elizabeth moved really slow and wasn't the happiest camper. I actually threatened to keep her home from school since she was so tired, and that's what got her to snap out of it. She loves school!
We celebrated back to school with all the kids on the street!
Day 4
Day 5- Elizabeth was most excited about her outfit on this day. It was spirit day and she got to wear her very first Tritt t-shirt.
I also let her buy her lunch on Friday (per her request) which made her backpack much easier to carry!
I can't leave out my sweet Caroline who had so much fun in Ms. Yasmin's class and playing on the spring pad.
My own students showed their spirit on Friday with their beach wear. We ended the week on Friday afternoon with tornado warnings and duck and cover. Elizabeth's teacher said she was so brave and mature and even helped calm some of the other students who were scared.
Overall it was a successful week for everyone! Elizabeth and I LOVE her teacher and she did well every single day. I pray that this continues for the entire year!
This past week was a pretty big week leading up to Elizabeth's first day of kindergarten. So many things happened!
Caroline started her first day of 3-year-old preschool.
She also got her hair cut:)
We bought all of Elizabeth's needed school supplies including this adorable rest mat.
Elizabeth had Meet and Greet. We were both so excited to get Ms. Arasi!
Caroline had open house at preschool. She's pretty proud of being in preschool!
Elizabeth and I had back-to-school mani/pedis.
And last but not least, Elizabeth learned to ride her bike without training wheels. She's been using a balance bike all summer. On Wednesday, Bert took off her training wheels on her real bike and she took off riding immediately! She is already keeping up with the big kids which makes her seem even older:( But I"m so proud of my brave girl!
