Memorial Day

Besides our one day trip to Nashville, we had a pretty relaxing Memorial Day weekend.  Our favorite part was sharing it with the Easons!  We thought about going to a Braves game.  Talked about going to the park or the pool.  But in the end, we turned on the sprinkler for the big girls and relaxed at home.

Meyers wasn't too keen on the water.  Elizabeth ran around by herself for a little bit, but gave it up when no one (including her boring mama) wanted to get wet with her.

Once these two divas sat in their chairs, they were good to go, requesting very specific treats while they rested.  I think they will be quite the bathing beauties one day!

I just love their sweet innocence!

The baby girls napped during our outside time.  When they woke up, we attempted a picture with all of the girls.  I doubt we will ever frame it, but I will always cherish the memories we make together!

Graduation

It is graduation season around here!  It all started last Thursday with Pope's graduation.  These are my homeroom kids who I've spent the last 4 years with watching them grow from little freshmen to young adults.  I love these kids!

On Saturday, we drove to Franklin to watch my favorite graduate walk across the stage.  I am incredibly proud of the young woman Hannah has become.   I feel like it was yesterday that Melanie and I were holding Hannah and Rebeka just like the picture below.  I'm going to turn around and Elizabeth and Caroline will be holding their kids.

Flashback Friday

Because this weekend is our 10th anniversary of girls' weekends, I am posting pictures from our 2005 and 2006 girls' weekends.  I am so sad to miss this year for the first time (and last)!  I know they are having a blast right now picking up right where we left off last year.  I actually had a dream last night that I was back in LA with these beautiful and fun ladies!

Will's All-Star Birthday Party

On Saturday, we headed to Nashville to celebrate Will's 2nd birthday.  It was such a fun theme (we dressed in our favorite team spirit wear) and the decorations were awesome!  Christy doesn't let having boys slow her down on planning the perfect party.  She thought of every little detail.  But what I love most are her creative party favors.  The blow-up baseball bats were a big hit with Elizabeth (how do you like that pun?)

Sweat bands- another adorable party favor.

We tried to get a picture of the ADPi kids- didn't really work out

We did get one of us though!

On Sunday morning we went to Will's house for a brunch and to watch him open his presents.  The girls loved playing outside with all of their fun toys.

The quick trip really wore them out.  Both girls zonked out and slept the entire way back to Atlanta.

12 Month Check-Up

Caroline is almost 13 months old, and we just had her 12 month check-up today.

Just this week Caroline started using her forward-facing car seat.  She looks like such a big girl!

She did so good with her shots this time.  She is 30 1/4 inches tall (75%) and weighs 20lbs 13oz (45%).  This is the first time either of my girls has ever been lower than the 50th percentile.  Our doctor assured me that she is quite healthy (just look at that belly).  He said at this point she will eat a whole lot on the days she is growing more, and very little on the days she is not.  He said this was the time she would start to get picky, but to stick to healthy foods only.  I guess I shouldn't tell him how much she already loves Chick-fil-A!

On a different note, we had a date night with Chris and Melissa.  It was a good night with great friends!

A First

Elizabeth has been in her toddler bed for some time now.  It hasn't been much different than when she was in her crib.  She doesn't get out of it until we come to get her in the morning and although rare, she calls for us to come get her if she needs to use the bathroom.  We still close the gate at the top of the stairs just to make sure.  Apparently we forgot to do that last night because at 3:30 in the morning Elizabeth showed up at the foot of our bed.  It scared us half to death.  She started crying saying that she had to pee.  I was afraid she had had an accident.  But she hadn't.  So I took her potty, then let her lay in bed with us.  Moral of the story: Elizabeth now knows she has the freedom to get out of bed... WE ARE IN TROUBLE.  We will be closing the gate, and teaching her to go to the potty by herself in the middle of the night!

Random Phone Pictures

I haven't taken too many pictures on my phone lately, but here they are.

Elizabeth eating chips and salsa at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

You can barely see Laney and Elizabeth behind the bush during Hide-And-Go Seek.  They chose the best hiding spot and stayed so quiet.  Nick (our 3rd grade neighbor) could not find them!

Elizabeth sporting her new helmet that she wears ALL THE TIME!

Heading to the "tennis social" in our neighborhood

Elizabeth had fun cheering for her daddy and learning how to hit the ball herself!

Mother's Day Weekend

We didn't really make plans for this weekend, but it turned out to be a fantastic Mother's Day weekend.  The family celebration started on Wednesday when Bert's grandmother (who Caroline is named after) from New Jersey, Uncle Kevin from California, and his father came to eat dinner with us.  It was such a nice visit.

On Saturday we went down to the square to do some shopping, playing, and eating.

Saturday night, Bert and Elizabeth  grilled my favorite meal... filet and veggies!

Sunday morning, I got to sleep in!  Until 8:00.  Then we had a great big breakfast of eggs and bacon.

After church, I took a 2 hour nap when the girls did.  It felt great!

Then we met Bert's mom and brothers in Douglasville for dinner.

We kept the girls out way too late, but I looked to the back seat on the way home and saw this.  What a wonderful way to end Mother's Day!
