The Circus

Almost 3 years ago I purchased my first groupon.  It was for tickets to the circus and we were so excited to take Elizabeth as our last adventure as a family of three.  Caroline had other plans that day.  As I started getting ready for the circus, my water broke and Caroline was born later that day.  We never made it to the circus, but I'm so glad because today we took the girls for their first time together!
This morning we tried to explain to Caroline what the circus was.  She wasn't really getting it.
Of course they had circus outfits for the occasion!
Elizabeth couldn't take her eyes off the stage.

They stayed amazed the ENTIRE time.  It was over 2 hours so that sorta shocked me.

They were so good we let them get their faces painted at the end.   Happy girls!
Elizabeth wanted to take a picture of us in the clown glasses we were given.  I couldn't stop laughing:)
It was a fun day of making (as Elizabeth said) "fantastic" memories!

Happy Valentine's Day

My silly little valentines went back to school this morning. I spent the day running errands and getting ready for Es party this weekend.

For dinner we tried out The Marietta Fish Market. It was very busy and very yummy. The girls were really sweet during dinner and loved looking at the fish.

We don't usually brave going out to dinner on VDay but I'm glad we did! Also I wanted to remember that this was the first time out that C sat in a chair with no booster. She has sat in booths with us, but not in a chair by herself. I know it's sappy but I almost cried realizing what a big girl she really is. Be still my heart!

Snowmageddon #2

We haven't had any snow days from school in over 3 years here in Georgia.  I've stopped keeping count this year!  We went to school on Monday, but by 6th period they had called off school for Tuesday and Wednesday.

We spent Tuesday making our Valentines cards.

Tuesday wasn't so bad, but Wednesday was very gloomy as the sleet and ice began to fall.  It wasn't pretty white fun snow.  It was cold, windy, ice.  Words like "catastrophic" and "biblical" rolled out of the mouths of meteorologist.  The thought of losing electricity wasn't fun, but people were freaking out around here.  We just hunkered down by the fire and watched lots of movies.

Hot chocolate!!

On Wednesday morning we woke up to this...
It was beautiful!  And even more beautiful that it only lasted until noon, then it warmed up to almost 50 degrees!!
Elizabeth wanted to make Olaf:)

Caroline looks like such a big kid here.  She had me holding her most of the day reminding me that she is still my baby:)

We went to the big hill to go sledding.

Elizabeth wiped out the first time she went down.  It took her a few more times to get comfortable with it.  Going down with her daddy and sister  a few times made her feel better.

On the smaller hill, even Caroline had fun sledding with her sister.

Elizabeth was quite the little expert by the lunch time.

The "street kids"

Caroline wasn't so sure about sledding without daddy.

She did like being pulled around in a basket with Ian!

Our Weekend

Our weekend didn't go exactly as planned. By mid day on Saturday I was ready to crawl back in bed and push the "do-over" button. But all was better by Saturday night when I got some much needed girl time! And today has been beautiful outside which really helps with the winter blues. And Bert finally got his new Jeep Grand Cheeokee and he's been letting me drive it. So that's fun!!

Elizabeth looked like a teenager before school on Friday.

My sweet Caroline is turning into Little Miss Attitude!
E was given some new dress up clothes from a friend. This one is her favorite. She informed me she was about to get married! If this girl doesn't slow down my heart might jump right out of my chest!!

An Extra Long Weekend

We ended up being out of school the rest of the week because of the snow!!  On Friday the girls' school was opened, but mine was not.  Oh darn!
The girls were really excited to go back to school and I was really excited too!  After taking them, I went to the gym, got ready at my own pace, then went to lunch with Bert in Buckhead.  We spent the afternoon getting new phones and test driving new cars.
Friday night we went to Laredo's with three other families on our street.

Friday was a fantastic day right up until the we got home for the night.  Our driveway was still covered in ice and snow.  I slipped on it, falling on the only concrete spot at the end of the drive.  Now I have a fractured tail bone and can hardly walk or sit.  Not a fun way to end an awesome day.

On Saturday I took the girls to Brayden's birthday at Sky Zone.  They loved it!
Elizabeth with the birthday boy.

worn out!
After naps, E went next door to play on the neighbors swing set with her.  This little one vegged out on the chair watching her favorite show.  All that trampoline jumping really wore her out!

Snowpocalypse

Everyone knows that Atlanta doesn't see too much snow and ice.  In fact, the last snow day we had was 4 years ago.  The excitement over the possibility of snow made everyone giddy!  We had no idea what was in store!

It started coming down on Tuesday around 10:00am.  They immediately announced that school would be dismissed 2 hours early.  It started getting bad very quickly, and our principal began dismissing students at 12:30.  By 1:00 our parking lot and road leaving the school was a sheet of ice.  It took me one hour just to get out of parking lot.  I saw 1 car flip over and many more sliding sideways into the ditches within minutes of turning out of the parking lot.  My one goal was to get to my girls and get them home safely.

It's only  3 miles from my school to the girls, but it took me 2.5 hours to get there.  I was a little anxious to say the least. Thankfully, it was a little easier to get home from their school.  Little did I know at the time that our ride would be considered a breeze compared to others.  It took Bert 9 hours to take his 20 mile commute from Buckhead.  The fact that he made it was a miracle.  Many people spent the night on the interstate.  One of our coaches at school ended up having to deliver his own baby girl on the interstate because his wife went into labor and there was no possible way to get to the hospital in time!  I can't even imagine!  And some children did not get home from school until 3:30 on Wednesday...more than 24 hours after they were dismissed!  It was quite a nightmare for anyone stuck in it.

I felt bad that those of us safe at home were actually enjoying the same weather that was causing nightmares for others.  The kids had snow ball fights, made snow angels, and went sledding.  All the neighbors that were home, were out playing.  It was just as much fun for the adults as it was for the kids.  We ended up coming in to get warm in our house.  The kids all watched a movie in the basement and the parents sat around the fire waiting for Bert to get home.  They were here when he got home at midnight!  It ended up being quite the celebration!

Bentley and Elizabeth made snow angels until it got dark.

Reese spent the night with Elizabeth and as soon as they woke up they were ready to play!  Caroline isn't in most of these pictures because at first she had very little interest in the cold snow.  She was content to stay inside and be warm.  When I finally got her to go outside (mainly because there was no one to stay inside with her), she loved it!  I knew she would and wish I would've pushed her sooner.  But after about 15 minutes, she just wanted me to hold her.

I could not convince Caroline to sled down the hill.

We are out of school again tomorrow, but I think most of the snow will have melted by then.  Now I'm ready for spring!!
