Soccer and Swim

Elizabeth has chosen the 2 sports I know virtually nothing about... soccer and swim.  She is so good at both that I love watching her and don't even care that I don't know what's going on half the time!  I also love that she can go to camps at my school.  I hope this is one day in her senior montage!
On this rare day of not playing soccer or swimming, we ate lunch outside after church because the weather was so nice.
Elizabeth earned the "Marathon Award" because her coaches says she never gets tired and always keeps going.  That's pretty much her life motto!

Caroline likes to pretend she likes ice cream, but she doesn't.  She only takes one bite or one lick and then gives it up.

Elizabeth with Coach Josh- We could not have asked for a better swim coach.  He is so patient, sweet, and encouraging  to the kids.  E learned so much. She earned a 1st place ribbon at every meet, but more importantly her times improved each week.  At her last meet she earned 1st place in both free style (25 seconds) and back stroke (27 seconds).  We were so very proud!

Rebecca is Josh's sister and also a junior coach.  She has become my girls very favorite "big" person.
Go Barracudas!
Cheering for her sister is exhausting!

Sweet Summertime

We've been very busy this summer, but swim team has probably been our very favorite thing.  We all love it!  Elizabeth gets better each week, both girls love socializing at the meets, and I love it too!

There's a different theme each week.  This was pirate night.  Rebecca (junior coach and neighbor) is our favorite!!
Caroline is her sister's biggest cheerleader.  She really stays focused when her sister is swimming.

We've also visited White Water three times already.  It's always more fun with friends!

We've had friends over to play.

We eat... A LOT!

We've enjoyed some snuggle time.
We go to the pool every day.

We ran the Braves Father's Day race.
Finished at Turner Field.

We've done some bowling.
And face painting.

We've gone to a Braves game.  Probably the most exciting game I've been too.  And then we saw Boyz II Men in concert afterwards.  Fun night!

We spent Father's day with Bert's dad.
Elizabeth has taken over the role of bed time reader.

We swing and play at the playground to dry off from the pool.

Basically, we go, go, go all day.  Our summertime has been very full and busy.  At some point each day, they crash!

Week 2 of Summer Break

Our 2nd week of summer started with a quick visit from Nanna and Pappa.  A lot happened in the 24 hours they were here!
We took the jeep to the pool
Elizabeth showed off her back stroke, and Caroline started swimming 100% without her swimmies!!!  That's her on the top.  She can already swim all the way across the pool and on her back!

Dianna and I ran some errands in the jeep.  We felt like teenagers!

Elizabeth pulled out her second tooth.  Yes... with a string.
We spent some time down on our square after church on Sunday.
We had a mama duck who laid her eggs under a tree at our pool.  On Monday, they hatched!  They swam around our pool for a while and then we had to rescue them because they were too tired. to get out themselves.  By the end of the week, they had moved on.  I hope they are doing well!
Swim team has become one of my favorite summer activities.  I love waking up to watching my little fish swim.
Elizabeth with the little boys in her age group.
Underwater tea party!

On Wednesday we celebrated our friend Barry's birthday at Top Golf.  We had sooooo much fun there.   It was my very first time swinging a golf club and it was fun!
Summer time heat set in this week so we took a family trip to Menchie's for frozen yogurt.
Caroline has just as much fun at the swim meets as her sister.
On Friday we celebrated my sweet friend Alissa.  She's getting married next month.  About 12 of our teacher friends had lunch at Seed and then mani/pedis.  I could do that every week!
At lunch I sat next to my friend Katherine who is leaving us (Pope High School) to teach closer to her house.  I will miss her!
I'm trying to savor every day of summer.

Week 1 of Summer Break

We've started out our first week of summer with swim practice every morning, gym, errands, lunch, rest, and a fun afternoon activity like playing in the sprinkler, going to gymnastics/tumbling, playing with friends at the pool, or visiting White Water.  Summer is off to a great start!

Last year, Caroline would not go down the baby slide by herself.  This year she did!!
Elizabeth prefers the "big kid" slides.
C plays on the steps and dances while her sister practices with her swim team.
Elizabeth showed tremendous progress this week with her swimming.  She learned the correct breathing technique with her free style and shed 7 seconds off of last week's time.
\

Staying busy in between heats.
Elizabeth's back stroke has improved the most.  She took 1st place this week and shed her time by over 20 seconds!

Little sister wanted to participate in the body drawings.
Caroline is her sister's biggest cheerleader!
Friday Fun Day!

On Saturday, Nanna and Pappa came in on Saturday.  Di and I decided to run some errands in the jeep.

Then we took it to the pool.
The girls loved playing with their Pappa in the pool.
Within 10 minutes, he had Caroline swimming across the pool without her swimmies.   She was swimming on her front, back, and even treading water.  Both of my babies are swimmers now!
Elizabeth showed off her pretty back stroke for him.
